As a retired former tradesperson I've fitted a lot of doors over the years. This is the first time I've used these modern 'engineered' type doors which are basically veneered, lipped chipboard. I chose TP doors because other suppliers only advised max of 5 mm all round trimming. Not much good for retrofitting. TP was 10mm. Eleven fitted plus two glazed versions. All precisely as the fitting instructions. That includes three coats of Ronseal water based varnish. I must say that sealing it all round including hinge and lock rebates is a real faff and I'm glad I'm not having to charge anyone for all that extra work. The upshot is that they look terrific. No one would know they weren't solid oak. Will they last? Only time will tell.
