I've already got a first-gen hub in the kitchen and use it every day for listening to the radio and general searching for facts and recipes. Good digital picture frame
We mainly use this for showing family photos in our living room. We like the clock display in the corner and then the larger clock when the room is darker. Not used any of Netflix features or even music playing functions. Tempted to process another as a replacement bedside clock and use those sleep functions.

Really Great
Very pleased with how much this little screen can do for the price. Upgraded from a Home mini. I use as a digi photo frame when not doing anything else, but when streaming from Apple music it displays track and artist info, plus the integration with Hue and Nest works well. Accessing info like weather forecasts works much better with a display too. The audio quality isn't great - not really any better than the Home mini, but I use with an external bluetooth speaker so not a problem for me.

Does not work everywhere
I purchased my google nest in France and then I moved abroad, in Africa. I cannot use Apple Music , I can only play music with Bluetooth (what's the point of getting an assistant) , I can't display a video I'm watching on my phone on the best even when it's on youtube. Apparently , when you live abroad , you have access to limited options. It's basically a speaker 80% of the time. Honestly, I feel like it was a such a bad purchase. I'm really disappointed. Plus the sound is not really great…

Useful device
This is my second Nest Hub, adding to a first gen hub in another room. I use it to control home automation devices which just worked out of the box. I like the accessibility of alarms and reminders as well as weather forecasts. Surprisingly, I have become quite addicted to the curated art which I originally thought I'd turn off. A couple of minor gripes: I'd like to remove the wellness stuff and the night-light clock shows a leading zero for the hours so there's more light than necessary in a dark bedroom.

Great addition
A really great addition to my Google home. Great that my nest doorbell displays on screen and announces when doorbell is pressed. I don't have a hardwired bell so this is awesome. Great sound when playing audio and video and the screen is pretty responsive for the price.The only downside, which is common with my other assistant devices is the WiFi range. My old Sonos easily reached into the kitchen but I had to install a repeater to put the nest hub in the same location.

Not worth it
Functionality is poor, basically, it's a glorified Alexa speaker with a screen. Not sure what I was expecting, but we only use it to connect to Nest Camera for a doorbell as we never use Alexa and will use our own Sonos speakers to play music. It's a doorbell with a screen for the nest camera… wouldn't buy it otherwise.

Cute little thing
I'm not sure we're getting the best out of this device as it's placed on our mantelpiece above the fireplace. Not a lot of need for a touchscreen device there, really. However, I was quite pleased to notice the differences between this and the Nest Mini in that the news was visual instead of just audio. My wife also loves to hear about the "animal of the day" on this device. The speakers could do with a bit more oomph but otherwise, very nice.

A bit better than the 1st gen, but read on
The 2nd Gen hub looks and acts pretty much identical to the 1st Gen. The biggest issue with it is the same issue you get with any smart speaker, half the time it decides it can't do something for seemingly no reason or it miss hears you and does something that you don't want it to do. Otherwise the 2nd Gen hub is a good product and sounds nice with music. The display is adequate enough for casual use. I do think however the hub could do with a camera like the hub max does because I dare say there are others like me who prefer a small device over a larger one and just don't want the larger hub device taking up valuable space.In summary, unless you really want the sleep monitoring features I wouldn't bother to upgrade over the 1st Gen. If you don't have a 1st Gen hub, the 2nd is a superior device, but not by much.
