Macmillan Garden Wins Silver

What is the legacy garden about?

The idea behind the design is to encourage people to create a lasting legacy through the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

The circular structure features a central pathway leading through an array of flowers, which then leads to a circular platform inside. The benches around the edge of the platform create a quiet place to sit, while the round windows give view to the surrounding floral colours and textures.

Macmillan Cancer Support wins silver!

We give big congratulations to Macmillan Cancer Support who secured a Silver Guild Award at the Harrogate Flower Show for their garden. Materials for which were supplied by one of our very own Travis Perkins branch managers, Matthew Howdle, and his team in Knaresborough.

The Macmillan Legacies team says: “Thank you so much for this donation – it made a huge difference to Macmillan financially. As the suppliers for plants etc. pushed up the prices so much in the run up to the show it would have been impossible to fit into the original budget for the garden without this donation.”

The garden will be rehomed permanently as a feature at St Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate, which looks after the needs of a variety of terminal illnesses, including cancer, so will act as a source of comfort and reflection for patients, visitors and staff.
