Good hard wood sleepers, don't expect this to be English oak for the price but will last longer then the soft wood alternatives.

Imperfections became features.
Was a oak sleeper, Travis did their best to deliver best of the bunch and after using for a raised bed, some of the imperfections became features!

Woodworm
All four sleepers had wood worm, none of them had a straight edge, and there was zero interest from any of the staff to pull down better ones from the racking.

Do not buy from Travis Perkins
I have just had a garden landscaper finish my garden project. There are four raised beds, built from Travis Perkins supplied oak sleepers.
There were so many misshapen, damaged, rotten sleepers that his fellow tradesmen spent a long time trying to find any decent quality wood to work with. We used over a hundred but had to send back one complete pallet full and get another replacement. These were then delivered mainly grey colour instead of the normal oak colour so they did not match the bottom rows of the raised beds already in situ. I know over time they will all turn grey but it would be nice to have them all changing colour together.
The worst part about dealing with Travis Perkins is that they would not give money back for the wood that could not be used because it had been cut. I also had to pay the landscapers extra money for the time that they spent sorting through the rubbish wood that had been delivered. If the wood had been of even reasonable quality, I wouldn't have had extra money to pay.
If anyone wants to see photos of the poor quality....look at the photos attached. Go elsewhere to get your oak sleepers. Travis Perkins in Helston also sent out a hired mini digger that had previously been rolled over and was defective. It had a damaged roll over bar, broken flashing light, the engine kept stopping due to damaged injector pipes. I also have photos of that machine. You decide if you are prepared to give them money for this sort of service and quality.

disappointing purchase
overall poor quality timber - uneven colour and extensive splitting - only really good for non cosmetic construction

Excellent Product At A Reasonable Price
I ordered 10 of these sleepers (baulks of untreated timber to be used eventually for raised beds) to place 2x 20' steel containers on. I was given the date of Friday 19th May, but the containers were due to be delivered on Thursday 18th. The manager at Helston was extremely helpful, saying he'd do his best to get them out to me on the Thursday morning as the first drop.
The sleepers were delivered by 0830, and the lorry with the containers arrived at 0930 and were off-loaded and onto the sleepers by 1115.
I can only praise the efforts of the Helston TP staff who achieved this tight time order, especially bearing in mind that the timbers weren't in stock, and had to come from up-country, and then out to me. An excellent product at a not unreasonable price for hard wood, and absolutely superb service in achieving the sleepers before my containers arrived on site.
Thank you Helston Travis Perkins.

Good product
Great oak sleepers, ordered 5 but one was slightly rotten. Still usable but had to be adjusted in a way to hide the damaged parts.
