I would buy the product again but now know its limitations.
The coupling was bought to correct a slight misalignment in an 110mm Osma drain. Unfortunately I did not find the coupling sufficiently flexible. The misalignment was corrected by inserting an Osma 11.25 degree elbow instead, although the coupling was used to provide an essentially straight connection between the "pipe" end of the elbow and the drain.
Flexseal Icon Couplings have been specifically designed to create a strong permanent connection whilst having minimal impact to natural flow. Tapered edges aid flow and thin coupling wall keeps bore reduction to a minimum. Icon Coupling applications include; Pipe has been encased in concrete
Pipe surrounded by brick
Pipe cut off at the floor or wall, leaving no stub or excess. Significantly reduces labour time for connecting problem pipes
Watertight connection on any pipe material
Connects pipes of differing or irregular outside diameters
No need to expose external surface of pipe
Pipe stop indicates that the product is properly installed, when it is flush to the pipe end
Passes pressure tests
Provides shear load protection
The whole range conforms to the requirements of BS EN 295-4:2013
The range of Flexseal rubber plumbing couplings are the plumbersÕ reliable problem solver. The flexible nature of the couplings allows the user to connect and repair, what would be in normal circumstances, incompatible pipe systems.Ê
Shear banded couplings are a requirement of the UK water companies when connecting onto their assets. This requirement forms part of Water Industry Specification (WIS) 4-41-01, which outlines the requirements to connect pipes on adopted systems using only shear banded couplings. The shear band gives the connection added protection against shear loads that could cause the pipes to become mis-aligned.
