I built a lovely wall with these. Trump would be pleased with the outcome!

Avoid if you're plastering over them
Nice light blocks, easy to cut and move around if you're a DIY'er. BUT. They are very porous though so they suck moisture out of your mortar as soon as you put it on - even if you've moistened them as I did. The biggest problem however is when they are plastered. Nice light blocks, easy to cut and move around if you're a DIY'er. BUT. They are very porous though so they suck moisture out of your mortar as soon as you put it on - even if you've moistened them as I did. The biggest problem however is when they are plastered. They are difficult to seal prior to plastering and so they drag all the moisture out of the scratch coat and cause it to blow and crack the finishing coat. My plasterer said it's a well known problem and if he had known I was going to use them he'd have told me to get alternative ones (denser ones). He's just been back to scrape his first attempt off and put it on again. Fortunately it was just a doorway.
H+HÕs Celcon Blocks High Strength Grade (7.3N/mm2 Ð identified with a black stripe on the block) is ideal where higher compressive strengths are required such as in the foundations and lower storeys of three storey buildings, piers under high vertical loads and in multi-storey buildings.
This highly efficient block (thermal conductivity of just 0.11 W/mK) is sufficiently loadbearing for two storey buildings and can be used below DPC. Identified by the distinctive painted blue line, Celcon Solar Grade has a compressive strength of 2.9N/mm2 and is principally used where enhanced thermal performance is required.
This solid, dense concrete block from Aggregate Industries is suitable for cavity or solid wall constructions, internal load bearing walls and beam and block flooring. Water resistant with sound insulation properties.
